Voeding CHIEFTEC APB-400B8-BK 400 W, 80 PLUS, actieve PFC

CHIEFTEC APB-400B8-BK is a 400 W desktop power supply with 80 PLUS White efficiency and active PFC, designed to deliver stable voltages for gaming PCs and workstations. It combines moderate power output with basic protections to reduce energy loss and provide reliable operation in typical home and office systems.

Advantages

The unit offers 80 PLUS White efficiency to lower energy losses compared with non-certified models, and an active PFC circuit to improve power factor and voltage stability. A 120 mm cooling fan balances airflow and noise for everyday use, while integrated protection mechanisms help prevent damage from common electrical faults.

Suitable for

When it may not be suitable

The CHIEFTEC APB-400B8-BK may not be suitable for high-end gaming rigs with multiple high-power GPUs or heavily overclocked CPUs that require significantly more than 400 W peak capacity. It is also not intended for systems that demand advanced modular cabling or very low-noise passive cooling.

Key specifications

How to use

Install the PSU into a compatible ATX case following the motherboard and case manufacturer guidance. Connect the main 24-pin ATX cable and required CPU and peripheral connectors to the components. Ensure input voltage matches the specified 200–240 V range and secure all connections before powering on the system. Allow for adequate ventilation around the 120 mm fan to maintain cooling efficiency.

What to consider before purchase

Recommendations

For stable operation, keep the PSU dust-free and ensure case airflow is not obstructed; consider a slightly higher-capacity or higher-efficiency PSU if planning future upgrades such as additional GPUs or heavy CPU overclocking.
