RAID-controller Dawicontrol DC-614E PCI Express 2.0 6 Gbit/s

The DAWICONTROL DC-614E is a RAID controller designed for systems with a PCI Express slot and supports PCI Express 2.0. It provides a 6 Gbit/s data transfer rate and is compatible with Serial ATA, Serial ATA II and Serial ATA III interfaces, enabling connection of a range of SATA drives for RAID configurations and storage expansion. The controller is intended for installation in desktop or server motherboards that offer a free PCI Express slot and for users who need hardware-based management of multiple SATA devices.

Advantages

The DC-614E offers a standardized PCI Express host interface for straightforward integration into systems with PCIe 2.0 support. With compatibility across Serial ATA, Serial ATA II and Serial ATA III, the controller supports drives with different SATA generations while maintaining up to 6 Gbit/s transfer capability. Its RAID functionality centralizes storage management and can improve data throughput and redundancy depending on the chosen RAID level.

Suitable for (tasks / use cases)

• Expanding SATA storage capacity in desktop workstations or small servers
• Implementing RAID arrays for improved performance or redundancy
• Connecting mixed-generation SATA drives (SATA, SATA II, SATA III)
• Systems requiring a PCI Express 2.0 compatible RAID controller

Key specifications

• Host interface: PCI Express (PCIe 2.0 compatible)
• Maximum data transfer rate: 6 Gbit/s
• Supported drive interfaces: Serial ATA, Serial ATA II, Serial ATA III

How to use

Install the DC-614E into an available PCI Express slot on a powered-down system following standard ESD precautions. Connect SATA data cables from the controller to the storage drives and connect drive power cables from the system power supply. After powering on, enter the system BIOS/UEFI or RAID configuration utility to detect connected drives and configure the desired RAID level or disk mode. Install any required drivers or management software for the operating system in use to enable full controller functionality.

Recommendations

Ensure the host system supports PCI Express 2.0 or is backward compatible with PCIe 2.0 devices, and verify that sufficient power and cooling are available for the number of attached drives. Use compatible SATA cables and matched drive types where RAID performance or reliability is a priority. Follow vendor instructions for firmware updates and driver installation to maintain compatibility and stability.
