PoE-adapter Ubiquiti INS-8023AF-I

The Ubiquiti INS-8023AF-I PoE adapter converts passive PoE devices to be compatible with 802.3af power sources. It provides an 18 V output at 0.7 A, fits compactly at 93.5 x 27 x 21.5 mm and weighs 200 g, enabling simplified installations and reduced cable clutter for network equipment that requires PoE.

Advantages

The adapter enables most Ubiquiti devices to be powered from an 802.3af switch, supports remote power control for convenient power-cycling via compliant switches, and improves power delivery efficiency to allow longer Ethernet cable runs. Built-in ESD and surge protection adds approximately ±15 kV of Ethernet isolation to reduce the risk of electrical damage to connected devices.

Suitable for

• Powering passive Ubiquiti devices from an 802.3af switch
• Remote locations where power-cycling via switch is required
• Installations needing longer Ethernet cable runs
• Environments where additional ESD/surge protection is desired

Key specifications

• Model: INS-8023AF-I (UBIQUITI)
• PoE output voltage: 18 V
• Output current: 0.7 A
• Ethernet ports: 1 × RJ-45
• Weight: 0.2 kg
• Dimensions: 93.5 × 27 × 21.5 mm
• ESD/surge isolation: ~±15 kV

How to use

Connect the INS-8023AF-I between an 802.3af-capable switch and the passive PoE device using standard Ethernet cabling. Ensure the switch is configured to provide 802.3af power; the adapter will negotiate power and supply 18 V at up to 0.7 A to the connected device. Use standard mounting or placement appropriate for the networking setup and verify connector seating before applying power.

Recommendations

Use with 802.3af-compliant switches and compatible Ubiquiti devices only. Verify device power requirements do not exceed 18 V / 0.7 A. For long cable runs, use appropriate cable quality (Cat5e or better) and observe proper grounding practices to minimize surge risk.
