Managed L2 Gigabit Ethernet-switch PLANET GS-4210-24T2S

The PLANET GS-4210-24T2S is a managed L2 Gigabit Ethernet switch with 24 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 ports and 2 SFP uplink slots. Designed for SMBs and rack-mount deployments, it provides IPv6/IPv4 dual-stack management, a MAC address table of 8000 entries and a switching capacity of 52 Gbit/s. The fanless, energy-saving design and support for standard management interfaces make it suitable for quiet office environments and reliable network operation.

Advantages

The GS-4210-24T2S combines advanced Layer 2/L4 switching features and robust security in a cost-effective package. It supports link aggregation, 802.1Q VLAN and Q-in-Q, MSTP, IGMP/MLD snooping, and LLDP for network discovery. The switch includes comprehensive QoS and traffic-control functions, IPv4/IPv6 ACLs, 802.1X authentication, DHCP snooping, IP source guard and dynamic ARP inspection. Fanless operation and green technology reduce noise and power consumption while the built-in web, console, telnet and SNMP management (with SSH/HTTPS/SNMPv3 security) enable flexible administration.

Suitable for

• Small and medium business office networks
• Rack-mounted access switch in enterprise edge or distribution
• VoIP, video streaming and converged data networks requiring QoS
• Secure network edge with 802.1X and ACL enforcement

Key specifications

• Ports: 24 × 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45, 2 × 100/1000BASE-X SFP
• Switching capacity: 52 Gbit/s
• MAC address table: 8000 entries
• Management: Web, console, Telnet, SNMP (SSH/HTTPS/SNMPv3 supported)
• Standards: IEEE 802.1w/s/p/Q, 802.1x, 802.3/802.3u/802.3ab/802.3ad/802.3x/802.3z, LLDP
• Design: 1U rack-mountable, fanless, blue chassis

How to use

Mount the GS-4210-24T2S in a standard 19-inch rack or place it on a flat surface. Connect Ethernet devices to the 24 RJ-45 ports and install SFP transceivers in the mini-GBIC slots for fiber uplinks as needed. Access the switch management through the web GUI, console or SNMP to configure VLANs, link aggregation, QoS policies and security features such as ACLs and 802.1X. For remote secure management, enable SSH or HTTPS and configure SNMPv3 credentials.

Recommendations

Use fiber SFP modules compatible with the switch for uplinks to backbone switches and monitoring centers; multi-mode fiber supports medium distances (up to about 2 km depending on module), while single-mode or WDM modules extend up to tens of kilometers. Enable QoS and traffic control for VoIP/video services and deploy 802.1X with RADIUS for port-level authentication to maintain network security.
